The big thing this year, no matter if you even own a ps3 or 360 or wii. You've heard of it. the console war. First, a little tip of advice. Just have fun. A games a game, enjoy it.

The Wii is actually winning the console war in sales prices and the fact that more families enjoy this system because of more family oriented games. The Xbox 360 is only in 2nd because of Sony's outrageous price for the ps3. And here's the thing, the Xbox is only attracting older gamers because of all the M rated material being put out on the market. The ps3, actually HAD more sales then the Xbox. What happened? I dont know. All I know is that Nintendo sold over a quarter of a million Wii's, Sony sold 80,000, Microsoft sold 11,000. But take in consideration of Sony's ridiculous price. I mean its a nice console to have, but 399.99 is quite something. Microsoft is almost $100 less, maybe more. The fact the Wii is winning (being released so late) tells us something. The Wii is cheap and for the whole family. Everything most parents want for their kids, or just families overall.
Personal Opinion
I think if sales keep going the way they are, Sony might be trailing behind Microsoft for quite sometime. Possibly till the end. I think all sony has to do, is lower the price to about the same as the Xbox's. The Wii is slowly falling, and might actually end up in last. Interest will end elsewhere.
