You want to know what annoys me more than the average salary of actors these days...Hollywood marriages.
I got married back in November 2008, was it made a big deal, did I get any screen time on E News! or Access Hollywood, no. Did I get a front page in Variety or US Weekly, no. Will my marriage last more than two years, most likely. Why is this you ask.
Maybe it is the fact that these "celebrities" are on set with one another for months on end doing romantic scenes together and they want to know what it would be like with this one compared to their significant other back home. But then again maybe it is the whole power complex, I mean look at Brad Pitt, he is one of the "hottest" actors out their and he was married to one of the hottest actresses Jennifer Aniston, when him and Angelina Jolie did "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" maybe Brad Pitt thought to himself, Jolie has more publicity and she looks a tiny bit better, "I'll dump Jen for Angelina."
But then again, some actors and actresses can have lasting marriages without letting the whole paparazzi and attention ruin their relationships, look at:
Art Linkletter and Lois Foerster - 73 Years
Karl Malden and Mona Greenberg - 70 years
Bob and Dolores Hope - 69 years
Charlton Heston and Lydia Clarke - 64 years
Tony Martin and Cyd Charisse – 59 years
Kirk Douglas and Anne Buydens - 53 years
James Garner and Lois Clarke - 52 years
Alan and Arlene Alda - 51 years
Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward - 50 years
Bill and Camille Cosby - 44 years
I don't know if they let their egos get to them, that they think they are better than the rest of the world because Hollywood gives them that chance, I mean anybody can actually act, they just may need coaching, but these actors these days don't let these things last. I am Catholic and we have the whole "'til death do us part" and we're not supposed to believe in divorce, but I can understand if someone is that miserable that they need out, but "celebs" don't try and work these things out, if it isn't working, instead of possibly going to conseling the easiest thing is getting a divorce.
Look at Robin Givens, who married Mike Tyson and exactly one year later divorced him, but the shortest marriage in Hollywood goes to Robin Givens and her tennis instructor, Syetozar Marinkovic married on August 22, 1997 and divorced the same day. Zsa Zsa Gabor has been married a record nine times, Elizabeth Taylor, Lana Turner and current husband Stephen Crane, Artie Shaw, and Mickey Rooney have all been married eight times.
After writing this I realized something, maybe I shouldn't attemt to get into Hollywood to not only keep my marriage but instead I should become a divorce attorney and specialize in Hollywood relationships. I would probably make a heck of a lot more money.
